First of all, let me apologize for my appalling lack of communication. I was just horrified to see that it's been almost 2 months since I updated my blog. I can't believe it's been that long! Time has flown. The summary:
I arrived in Toronto on Feb. 10th, expecting some balmy Ontario winter weather. I flew in from Winnipeg where it was -28 C as we drove to the aiport! Unfortunately, during my 2 weeks of Mission Prep training, the average temperature wasn't very much warmer than that and we also had some major snowstorms. The snow was lovely in that setting of old town Toronto with its quaint, fairy tale homes but the temperature was not! Mission Prep was good -- a very intense time of learning and preparation for living in another culture. We had sessions on language acquisition, spiritual warfare, Hinduism, Islam, Animism, understanding culture and worldview, interpersonal conflict -- heavy stuff! Fortunately, we also had fun and laughed a lot, thanks to a quirky mix of people and a bunch of cute kids. We stayed in the best house for playing hide-and-seek ever, a huge old mission guesthouse!
Then on March 3rd, my pile of suitcases and I arrived safely in the London sunshine. It was great to be "home" in England and to see all of the familiar people and places that were part of my life here. Everything is so familiar that the second day it was like I had never left. I haven't done anything too exciting since I arrived but I feel like I've seen and done most things in London before. It's just amazing to spend time with my friends here again.
