I was just looking at the Reuters website for articles for my essay and stumbled across some new headlines on Sudan. Have a look at Southern Sudanese Resent Northern Troops in Oil Areas. This is in Unity State, the main oil-rich region of South Sudan, but should shed light on some of the issues I've tried to explain about Blue Nile/Upper Nile area where I'm going. South Sudan Fragile Peace gives an overview of the 2005 peace agreement and Sudan Conflicts discusses the regional conflicts in Sudan and their roots. Notice the little map in this last article that shows pink "disputed areas". These are oil-rich areas and the one in the east is the area where I'm going. Please pray for the nation of Sudan!
